    About Buffett Beach Blast:

One of the most fun events of the summer!

Fire up the grills, crank the tunes, pour the margaritas, and decorate the car. Start your evening at the tailgate party (separate ticket) in the adjacent parking lot then move inside for the show. Changes In Latitudes is the country’s premier tribute to the Mayor of Margaritaville, Jimmy Buffett. This nationally acclaimed band travels the country with beach balls and leis flying, dancing conga lines, and “Trop Rock” fun for all. It’s the ultimate beach party with an amazing authentic reproduction of the Jimmy Buffett concert experience.

Steve Kareta mimics Jimmy’s casual, storyteller style, while these world-class musicians, traveling with a full tropical stage set-up, will take you on a musical cruise through the sun-drenched waters of the Caribbean. You can expect to hear such classics as “Margaritaville”, “Come Monday”, “Cheeseburger In Paradise”, “Volcano”, and, of course, “Changes In Latitudes, Changes In Attitudes”, as well as other crowd-pleasing favorites, like “Brown Eyed Girl”, “Southern Cross”, “Another Saturday Night”, and the Alan Jackson / Jimmy Buffett hit “It’s Five O’clock Somewhere”.

It’s all to benefit the Salisbury Beach Partnership’s 11 weeks of free Summer outdoor concerts and fireworks shows!

Groundhog Day Musical - Theater at the Bell
    When
    Friday, July 19 2024 @ 7:30 PM - 10:00 PM
    Location
Clark School, 14 Forest Ridge Dr, Rowley, MA 01969, USA
    Description

Theater at the Bell presents Groundhog Day The Musical
    Show times & days: 7/19, 7/20, 7/26 & 7/27  from 7:30 - 10 pm
    Matinee show times & days: 7/20, 7/21, 7/27 & 7/28 from 2 - 5 pm
    The Clark School, Rowley, MA

Critically acclaimed on both the West End and Broadway, Groundhog Day revels in one man's journey of self-discovery, day after day. Inspired by the hilarious film starring Bill Murray, Groundhog Day features a book by original co-screenwriter Danny Rubin, and music and lyrics by Tony Award nominee Tim Minchin (Matilda the Musical).

How would you spend your time if forced to repeat the same day over and over again? Phil Connors, a seasoned big-city weatherman, is frustrated to be reporting the annual Groundhog Day Ceremony in small town Punxsutawney, PA. His arrogance and cynicism are in direct opposition to the cheery townsfolk, who are ready for their favorite Groundhog to not see his shadow and welcome an early spring. After disdainfully covering the rodent's negative forecast, he awakens the next day only to discover it's February 2 once more. Initially in disbelief, Phil finally accepts he is doomed to repeat the same day over and over again....

Will Phil accept that he is doomed to repeat the same day over and over again? Or will he find the courage to change himself and his fate?

    Description

Maudslay Summer Concert Series - New Black Eagle Jazz Band
    Saturday, 7/27 from 7 - 9:30 pm
    Maudslay Arts Center (MAC), Newburyport

The Black Eagles, as they are often known to their fans, have been a fixture on the international jazz scene since 1971, bringing the sounds of traditional New Orleans Jazz to audiences all over the world. The band members regard themselves as the “Keepers of the Flame,” and many observers regard them as the premier band playing in the traditional jazz style.

The Black Eagles refuse to slavishly copy earlier jazz performances note for note. At all times, they are aware of the legacy and influence from such legendary New Orleans musicians as Louis Armstrong, George Lewis, Kid Ory, Sidney Bechet, Jelly Roll Morton, Paul Barbarin and, of course, The Preservation Hall Jazz Band, just to name a few of those who represent the best in the history of New Orleans Jazz. They also have a good selection of Duke Ellington and Ragtime to spice the pot.

Whether you’re sitting under the stars on a moonlit evening, or lounging on a blanket on a Sunday afternoon, the Maudslay summer concert series provides the perfect setting for your entertainment pleasure. Now in it's 31st season, the MAC performance schedule offers something for everyone.

Concerts are held rain or shine. In fair weather, our outdoor stage seating provides the ideal al fresco setting, with table and chairs in our patio seating area, and bring your own blanket seating on the lawn. When weather dictates, the performances move inside to the MAC Concert Barn.

Concertgoers are encouraged to bring a picnic dinner, which can be casual or as elaborate as a gourmet meal with tablecloth and flowers and whatever suits the patron’s fancy. Delicious desserts such as seasonal cobblers, brownies, and ice cream, cold beverages, and coffee may be purchased during intermission, all served by dedicated MAC volunteers, who continue to make this nonprofit series happen.

Saturday performances start at 7 pm, with gates opening at 6 pm. Sunday performances start at 2 pm with gates opening at 1 pm. Enjoy open seating on the patio and lawn. Tables and chairs are provided on the patio.

    Sunday, 7/28 from 2 - 4 pm
    Maudslay Arts Center (MAC), Newburyport

Appealing to traditional and progressive acoustic music fans alike, The Ruta Beggars combine bluegrass and early swing to create a timeless act filled with intricate vocal harmonies, fiery instrumentals, and plenty of fun. They have been praised for their creative yet tasteful arrangements and charming performances. Since 2018 they have brought the joy of their live show to audiences across the US and Canada from festival stages to storied folk listening rooms and as support for legacy acts Lyle Lovett and Ricky Skaggs. The Ruta Beggars are 2019 Thomas Point band competition winners, 2023 IBMA official showcasing artists, Freshgrass Foundation commissioned composers, Freshgrass Award finalists, and Skyline Records artists.

Best-of-friends since their inception, The Ruta Beggars are Micah Nicol (guitar), Trevin Nelson (banjo), Noah Harrington (bass), Sam Stage (fiddle), and Jean-Baptiste Cardineau (mandolin), who met through studying in Berklee College of Music’s American Roots Program.

The races kick off at 4:30 but it is fun to arrive a little early to watch some of the serious competitors as they warm up, strategize and assess other serious contenders.

This totally entertaining event gives us a chance to cheer for our favorite waitstaff as they compete in a high speed walking competition where they are judged on both speed and spillage. In order to win, they must balance their tray which is loaded with light weight plastic water cups. This may not look difficult to spectators but it is important to note that the lightweight cups are far less stable than traditional glassware. Taking it to the next level, finalists must compete in the in the obstacle course round.

In addition to the VIP Waiters and Waitresses The Yankee Homecoming Committee is delighted to announce the 2024 VIP celebrity judges: Newburyport Mayor, Sean Reardon.

    About the Band - Beatlejuice
For over 24 yrs. Beatlejuice has been faithfully reproducing some of the greatest Beatles songs ever
written. Beatlejuice covers every era of the Beatles catalog and onto the solo careers of the boys from Liverpool. Renowned cover band Beatlejuice has been entertaining audiences with spot-on renditions of Beatles classics for more than two decades. Beatlejuice uses a cast of vocalists and arrangements that match the original recordings of the Fab Four note-for-note. Audiences can close their eyes and imagine John, Paul, George and Ringo playing some of the greatest and most influential songs ever written.

The band was formed in 1994 by the late Brad Delp, renowned vocalist for the band Boston, and drummer John Muzzy from the band Farrenheit. After Delp’s passing in 2007, band members Muzzy, Steve Baker, Joe Holaday, Dave Mitchell, Evan Gianoulis and Rich Bartlett continued to perform under the name Beatlejuice and Friends, beginning with memorial concerts for Delp at the Regent Theatre in Arlington. Those friends were a group of vocalists including Mike Girard of The Fools, Jimmy Rogers of Velvet Elvis, Buddy Bernard of Aces & Eights, and Bob Jennings.
