NCS Community Chorus, a North Shore Tradition

The Newburyport Choral Society has been delighting the North Shore with breathtaking music since 1934. This wonderful Newburyport based chorus is run by a committed group of chorus members passionate about working together to share the tradition of classical music throughout the community. The NCS Chorus is fortunate to be led by Dr. Minji Kim a globally respected choral conductor, renowned composer and highly accomplished music educator.

NCS Music Director Dr. Minji Kim has crafted an emotion-filled holiday concert that will inspire both singers and audience members. This year’s program brings together a brass ensemble, percussion, organ, piano, the Youth Choir of Immaculate Conception, NCS’ own chamber ensemble, and festive sing-alongs with the audience.

The Newburyport Choral Society enthusiastically welcomes new members twice per year, during the fall and winter registration time-frames. If you love to sing and are committed to learning the music, NCS is a wonderful local organization to consider joining.  The performance schedule includes concerts in December and May as well as a Summer Sing in August.

Newburyport Choral Society Newburyport Choral Society Open Rehearsal will be held Tuesday, September 1 and 8 starting at 7:00 pm in the Belleville Congregational Church, 300 High Street. Join NSC free of charge for the first two rehearsals! Online registration is open from now until September 23.

Newburyport Choral Society members practice on Tuesday evenings during the fall and winter season’s in preparation for their spectacular themed concerts. The December concert features a wide variety of holiday music and the Spring concert provides an opportunity for the chorus to shine as they preform music from a broad scope of composers. This Newburyport based community chorus has performed an impressive list of highly regarded performances over the years, and has developed a following from all over the North Shore and Boston area.

The Newburyport Choral Society is an adult chorus that welcomes singers all ages and experience to participate and perform with varied professional orchestras each season depending on the instrumentation. Practices are held at Belleville Congregational Church located at 300 High Street in Newburyport and concerts are held at Immaculate Conception Church located at 42 Green Street in Newburyport.
